The Four Horsemen are back — and this time they are recruiting. Three young illusionists join the original crew for their most ambitious trick yet: exposing a diamond heiress whose empire runs on laundering money for criminals around the world. The plot is, as ever, a magic trick itself: twists pile up until they stop making strict sense, and one late reveal is telegraphed well in advance. But the film knows it is a magic trick, not a documentary, and it never stops moving long enough for you to mind. The new generation of magicians gives the franchise a fresh engine, and the diamond-heist target gives the film a satisfying villain to expose.

Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher slip back into the Horsemen like a favourite jacket, and the newcomers — Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa and Ariana Greenblatt — bring real energy. Rosamund Pike makes a delicious villain, and Morgan Freeman lends the whole enterprise its usual gravitas. The cast clearly loves being together, and that joy is infectious.

Ruben Fleischer leans into what these films do best: globe-trotting glamour, impossible tricks staged with real showmanship, and a pace that never lets the audience check its watch. The set pieces — especially the diamond vault sequence — are staged with flair, and the film's glossy look suits its world of high-end illusion.
